Make-up: Expiration Guide

Yes! like food or medicine, Makeups do expire. This is due to the bacteria being transferred from your brush or hands to the product. Regardless how expensive or cheap they are, all of them has a limit on usage.
I will share with you some guide on how long you can use your makeup, they vary from powder to cream to liquid.
But take note, this is just a guide and not a strict rule 'cause different brand has different ingredients, so their expiry also differs. This will just guide you on when to bid farewell to that loved eyeliner or mascara, and when to tell if your very expensive lipstick is no longer serving its purpose.

Expiration date is counted from the moment you open the product.

Check below and see how long you should keep your makeup :)

Powders and eyeshadows - 12 to 18 months

Liquid foundation - this can last upto 1 year, depending on the ingredients and how you use them (with clean brushes or sponges).

Cream blush - you can keep this upto a year if you are using clean brushes, but if you use your fingers, keep them upto 3 months only.

Mascara and Liquid Eyeliner - 3 months, since they are liquid, its a breeding ground for bacteria and you don't want bacteria in your eyes.

Lipsticks and Lipgloss - upto 6 months or earlier, if they smell funny (like bad breath or chemical smell).

Here are some tips i can give to prolong your makeup's life

  • After opening the product, I write down the date at the back or at the handle so I know when I purchased or opened the product.
  • Always keep your makeup in a room temperature, don't let them be hit by the sunlight as this may melt the cream products and ruin them.
  • Some products are OK to put in a fridge (lipstick, eyecreams) but some products will be ruined by cold. be careful where you store your products.

Repost from Instagram: Makeup review, Pinoy Books

Due to my laziness in opening my laptop to blog, I use my instagram instead.. you can follow me @gerralime, I have all my everyday random reviews and stuffs there.

some of which are as follows:
I recently bought 3 books from national booktore. I have diary ng panget and diary ng panget 2, super fun to read and I did not know it has part 3 and 4. at the end of my reading, I was left wanting for more.. These kinds of books are really fun to read, super light and will leave a smile on your face. Good job to the author.
I aslo got meself the, now a movie, "bakit hnd ka crush ng crush mo", curious.. interesting advises from Mr RB himself to those who have heart problems and even school problems..

I bought these two lipsticks online (lannelboutique), for only 850.

I also tried out the natural brown eyeshadow quad from saizen. It's only 85 pesos.. and with my uber sensitive skin na nakakairita na minsan, I did not get any reaction.. interesting.. I will try to use this again..

Next up, it's the volcanic mud nosetrips from Thefaceshop. It smells like mud but it does its job pretty well.. got all those nasty stuff out.

Asian makeup has the cutest packaging.. they know their stuff really well.. I went to etudehouse and got their CC cream which is soft and smells really nice. It has matte finish, which is good for oily skin. Also I am a fan of their lipliner, its creamy and pigmented, glides on my lips really well.  I even got a free "I'm blooming" face mist from my total purchase. Yay for freebies! :)) (item costed 900+)

Maybelline's mousse foundation, aahhh.. inlove with this product.. also, I tried out fashion21's lipliner, and it's amazingly good for only 100 pesos..

Some random stuff with my dirty brushes that I cleaned out after posting this.. hahaha

I have to go now, have to go out and explore the world and it's my sis bday today..

till next time ;)
