Pregnancy Blog: 10 Items for My Second Trimester Must Haves

I am now on my 34th week. almost there!

I wanted to share what helped me go through my second trimester. coming into my second trimester was a breath of fresh air. Although, my morning (and evening) sickness did not go away until I was on my 18th or 19th week but still it did subside which was a relief. I never thought I could surpass that.

During this time, I was able to eat properly without the thought of how it will taste when it wants to come out. Food is staying down (Thank goodness.. wew!) I tried to eat as healthy as I could, but food cravings sometimes get the best out of me. There are times when I crave for fast food, especially when I see someone eating them or I pass by someone holding a bag of Jollibee or McDonald (drool). I indulge once in a while just to satisfy my craving and then I regret it after because I get weird after taste for fried or oily foods.

Okay so back to my list. Here are 10 items that I listed down that helped me with my second trim. there may be more, I will add it on the bottom. Mostly these are the things I cannot live without during those time.

1. WATER! I can now drink water.. Yehey! but only Wilkins but still water. At first I was able to drink water that were distilled then my taste-buds upgraded to only Wilkins (expensive :( hay! ). At least I am able to drink now, I can finally have water in my system and no longer relying on water from fruits or other sugary drinks.  I can drink absolute brand but only if I do not have any choice, it is not a wonderful feeling though. It was like drinking a cold medicine that has a weird after taste but you do not have any choice but to drink it.

2. Related to Water was my 1.3 liter tumbler. I fill it up at home then bring it to the office, since I cannot stand the taste of office water. That is all I drink in the office, then I drink some more once I get home.

3. I still get cold during this time, so anything that will make me feel warm helps. Coats, balabal (scarf), and jackets really helped. I still cannot stand the cold air coming from the air-condition in the office and my body reacts in a different way when cold. I sweat. It seems like my body is in defense mode to the cold where it tries to warm my body but then I get sweaty. weird. I sweat when it is very cold but when I take off my jacket, I get more colder.. so I try to stay away from very cold places.

4. Face Towels. I always have these at hand. for when my body gets sweaty. I put them on my back to prevent me from getting sick (matuyuan ng pawis).

5. Extra Large Undies. yep! at this time, I try to avoid fitted clothes or undies that my hinder baby from growing and me from choking because of tight clothes. I bought a few very large underwear that covers my stomach. An added cover to my belly so it will not get cold. I bought a brand called Elizabeth, not sure if it is available here in metro since I tried to look for it in the department store but was unable to see the brand. I bought it when we went home to our province, in Zamboanga City.

6. Aside from Undies, I also bought large clothes or Loose Clothing. Again to help me breath properly. During this time, I am already showing so I wanted my belly to have more room. I get so excited every time I see myself in the mirror and saw how my belly was. I picture my baby having a blast inside. Yep! I always look at myself in the mirror just to check my belly. Excited mom-to-be here :D

7. Leggings. My supportive mom bought me a few large leggings from Baclaran which helped warm my legs. Throwing in a socks for added comfort to keep my feet warm as well.  Thanks Mang!

8. Skyflakes or snacks. During this time, I am starting to feel hungry every few hours and I try to avoid my stomach to go hungry to a point where it will make a sound. It made me think that it would disturb my baby. So I make it a point to snack on biscuits or what I always bring with me was Skyflakes, before I get really hungry. I can also feel a little kick from little one during this time, so I know if baby is awake or not. There were times when little one kicked me so hard when my stomach rumbled (wahahaha) I think it startled bebe love lol.

9. Warm Milk. Milk is important during pregnancy because it will help you and baby get more calcium. I also eat lots of veggies and greek yogurt for additional vitamins. Warm Milk helps with my digestion. It also warms my body during the time when I feel cold.

10. Warm Bath. At first, dear husband was boiling water to put in a bucket for my warm bath. He was doing it for a few weeks and then I think to make life easier, He bought a water heater lol. I think the process of warming up the water then putting it in the bucket was scary and prone to many accidents. So having a water heater was much safer for everyone. I still cannot take a bath with normal water temperature. It feels like taking a bath in an icy water for me. So a warm bath helps and it also relaxes my body :D

I know! some on my list is an eye roller but If I can eliminate them, I would. They say pregnancy is different for everyone. It is weird and different for each pregnant women. You gotta do what you gotta do and these items helped me a lot.

I also take my vitamins which my OB prescribed (Hemarate FA for Vitamins and Iron, and Cecon Be for Calcium) which is very important during pregnancy to help your baby grow healthy.

Aand that is all for my second trim list. I hope this will help you in any way.

Thank you so much for the visit.
Have a blessed and wonderful day ahead.

<3 Mrs. Vergie M.
