This experience is still surreal to me.. I still can't believe I am now actually learning how to put makeup on on models with the help of professional makeup artists. Before this was just a hobby, now I think I am really going to make something out of this.. hopefully I can get clients that will also believe in my skills and help me with this passion :)
Our Instructor for this whole week is Mio Robo, except for Day 2 it was Ms Yuuki.
Here it is then..
Day 1: Application of Base/Foundation, Facial Contouring (Wet Method) and Eyebrow Shaping
Model: Loraine
For this day, we were thought how to properly put foundation, how to contour using wet method or using cream contours, and how to properly shape the brows. All the techniques they taught were very helpful in putting the base makeup properly and this is the first step to everything. Sir Mio was very good at teaching us how to do it and gives us compliments or comments that will enhance our skill more.
Day 2: Application of Base/Foundation, Facial Contouring (Dry Method), Eyebrow Shaping, Blush and Lips
Model: Marissa
This is same as the first day but only using the dry method technique, using powder contour instead of the cream ones. My model for this day has a very very fair skin, I almost had a hard time finding her perfect match of foundation, I had to mix 2 different shades. She also has a nice brows so I didn't find it hard to shape her brows. We also did a natural blush and lip shaping during this day.
Day 3: Facial Balance and Eye-shape Correction
Model: Alexis
This day we were taught how to deal with different eye shapes and how to enhance them. 2 makeup techniques was also introduced, the open corner and closed corner technique. I liked how small the face of my model this day. She also has the perfect brows which I found easy to shape.
Model: Jonalyn
This day we were asked to use the open corner technique, and I chose to go with blue color as the crease color and I found it very hard to work with, it needed a lot of blending and since its not a neutral color, I needed to be precise with the line since it was very visible. for the brows, I found it hard to make the brows a little lighter for the look and since my model ha a thick eyebrow, It took me some time to shape her brows.
Day 5: Evening Makeup
Model: Marj
This day we were asked to do the 2nd technique, which is the closed corner. this technique I especially like, and since I am already ok or should I say a little better at blending eye shadows, I think I did a pretty good job with this eye look. I used a lighter pink shade on the inner corner, a dark plum as my transition shade and a dark brown almost black color as the outer corner shade. The 3 colors blended pretty well. As for the brows, I really try my best not to shave or pluck my model's brows, I always like work with what I am presented with, and since I also don't have any tools at hand, I tried my best to shape my model's brows while hiding all those stray hairs. not really sure how I did with that..
So, there you have it, My Week 1 as a student at MP School of Makeup Artistry. I will post next week my before and after pictures for week 2. I am very excited for that post since that will be all about fashion photography look.. :)
By the way, all makeup used here were provided by the school. Brands are Makeup Factory and Beyu, the brushes we use are from Makeup Forever.
Thanks again for the visit! Please come back for more. Tomorrow I'll be posting my whole week 1 experience and also some pictures of my classmates in action :)
Thanks and Have a nice day!
<3 Gie
